My Visual Arts class recently completed a new project that I am calling the Daylight/Black Light project. This idea came to me while watching an episode of Project Runway. Project Runway is a fashion design reality TV competition. In the episode designers are asked to design an outfit that can from day to night by transforming under a black light. A clip of the final runway can be viewed below.
Just like the fashion designers, I challenged my Seniors to create a work of art that gains interest when shown under a black light using neon or fluorescent materials. To make the project significant, their subject or concept had to be inspired or based on artist that currently has work in the Art Institute of Chicago.
(Seniors will tour the art institute on their upcoming Senior Trip in May)
