I was lucky enough to be able to attend an annual event called the
Marine Educators Workshop
during the first week of March in San Diego, California.
The workshop can be explained as a week-long event providing a glimpse into what it takes to become a U.S. Marine, what obstacles recruits may face when choosing to the join the armed services, education benefits and job opportunities available within the Corps. Attendees also are able to speak face to face with recruits, drill instructors, and a panel of active duty Marines. Each day focuses on different aspects of the Corps and includes highlights such as:
- Education center tours
- Q & A with Marines at various ranks and multiple career fields
- Boarding a military aircraft
- Marksmanship training
- Eating lunch with recruits
- Team building events
- Participation in an optional Marine Corps fitness test
