Congratulations are in order for North Central freshmen Austin Bugalski!
Austin was recently chosen as one of the winners of the annual Meemic Masterpiece Art Contest. Each year, this contest invites K-12th grade students to submit an original piece of artwork using a theme for inspiration. For this year, the themes were Seasons, School Memory or Selfie!
Austin chose School Memory.
The committee of judges had to choose the Top 50 winners from 1,500 entries submitted from students in Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin and Georgia! Each winning student artist received a Lenovo Chromebook, and the sponsoring Meemic Foundation Club member (in this case his art teacher Emily Westphal) is awarded $300 to use exclusively online at Office Depot.
Austin was the only winner chosen in the entire Upper Peninsula!
The winning art will be professionally framed with a nameplate featuring the student’s name, school name and grade. The artwork will be on permanent display at the headquarters of Meemic Insurance Company in Auburn Hills, Michigan. An Art Gallery Open House will take place on June 21st to unveil the display. This contest was conducted by The Meemic Foundation for the Future of Education, a 501(c)(3) non-profit company started in 1992 by the Meemic Insurance Company. Both companies are focused on serving and giving back to dedicated educational communities.
After hearing about Austin's win, 8th grade and freshmen students brainstormed shopping lists of how they'd like to use the $300 winnings. Using those lists as inspiration, an order was placed for art supplies that should arrive by May 28th. Supplies that were ordered include:
Hot Glue Sticks
Classroom Electric Pencil Sharpener
Air Dry Clay
Thank you to Austin and the
Meemic Masterpiece Art Contest!
