Today was our last meeting as a full chapter for the 2016-2017 school year, as this is the last week of school for our Seniors! This means that we need new officers! Please see our new officers listed and pictured below with the graduating Senior they will be replacing! Thank you to the graduating class of 2017 for all you have done for our organization. Each graduating member will be recognized at Senior Awards Night on Wednesday, May 24th!
Congrats to our new officers!
Our last big event for the school year is Community Project Day - this Friday, May 19th!
Our Chapter of NHS recently held our 1st Annual Winter Clothing Drive. In just under 2 weeks almost 300 items were donated. Items included hats, scarves, mittens, gloves, boots, jackets, and warm blankets. We encouraged participation with having a competition between classes at the junior/high school. The class that brought in the most donations was promised a celebratory party including Dairy Queen ice cream cakes, beverages and games. Here are the results (in "items") -
7th Grade - 110
8th Grade - 0
Freshmen - 4
Sophomores - 78
Juniors - 50
Seniors - 45
Congratulations to the 7th Grade!
One of our main goals was to keep the all of the donations local.
After sorting through boxes and boxes and many bags, we created a collection for our own Elementary School. Items will be availble in the Art room until Thursday, December 22nd for any famillies in need from our community. After Thursday, remaining items will be donated to a larger local organization.
Thank you to everyone who donated. We really hope your efforts and ours will help our community #keepitcozy2k16
