This week, students will be participating in the 2nd annual Pumpkin Carving contest to coincide with the first Parent/Teacher Conferences of the year. On Monday, the 21st, I will give students a chance to plan and research to get ideas of what they'd like to do. Tuesday and Wednesday will be days to create. I am excited to see what they come up with. Check back for results, or come to Conferences and see for yourself!
Pictured below are samples of finished projects from two different classes. First, homemade scratch art from my Drawing class. After that, a special self-portrait project from my Painting class. The self portraits are completed using one of my favorite concepts - the Zentangle! Check it out!
My 4th hour class of Freshmen students (Intro to Art) will be completing a lyrical project this week. The project is an independent one, where they will be creating a piece of art based on a lyric of their choice. I am excited to see the variety of results. Below are some examples of what they could possibly turn out like. I will be showing these actual examples to my students for reference.
My Drawing class is also completing the Grid Enlargement process that my Painting class is. They had to find an image to blow up, and have two choices of how to finish it. One is a simple colored pencil shaded drawing. Great, but not near as creative as the second option - Cassette Tape Art. I was inspired by one of last year's seniors to do this project. I am excited to see some of the completed artworks. Here are two samples:
My amazing 2nd hour students are working on a grid enlargement project. They were required to choose a famous painting and recreate it to their best ability. So far, they are amazing me with the progress. Check out the pictures below!
After they come these lovely group projects, they will be moving on to a Watercolor Self-Portrait using a style that will look similar to the image to the left.
Time for an update on what the High School classes have been up to.
1st Hour - Drawing students have been busy! Thye have completed a Monochromatic shading project with colored pencil, Zentangle sharpie project (example to the left), Mixed Media Self Portraits, and are now using the Grid Enlargement process to complete a very unique Cassette Tape project.
2nd Hour - Painting students have also had their hands full. They have completed a Monochromatic painting, Stencil project, Newspaper painting, and are now working on a group Grid Enlargement of a famous piece of art.
4th Hour - My Intro to Art students have had a variety of projects so far. They are currently working on a Recycled Magazine project. Before this, they completed projects like Spray Paint Stencils, group Construction Paper Mosaics, Elements of Art Accordion Book, and a Mixed Media Perspective project.
