My 1st Hour Drawing/Painting class recently completed this architectural projects inspired by the blog RefrigeratorGood. Students created a background using an abstract analogous color combination. After the background was complete, an architectural landmark of their choice was painted using not brushes but cardboard instead. The final step was to add details/highlights using complementary colors to their background choices. I love the non-conventional results. Can you recognize the locations in their work? Students in my Intro to Art classes completed their Analogous Circle projects. Analogous colors are hues that are neighboring on the color wheel. The results look great hung up in the Art room! Up next, they are working on a Mixed Media Self-Portrait that is DUE TODAY! After those projects are turned in, we are reviewing our Elements and Principles of Art! Check back soon!
Our second week went smoothly. The drawing class completed their double vision projects and starting our OP ART unit. We worked on the shading project pictured here. Students chose an analogous color scheme to shade each column of the design. This project will be an on-going piece that we will work on for the next few weeks in between projects. Here are some examples of some works in progress.
The Intro to Art class is also going well! They completed their analogous circle drawings, and have moved on to our mixed media self-portraits. Students will draw their face on the upper portion of the project, and include an inspirational quote on the lower portion. A variety of media (collage, pencil, oil pastel, etc.) will be used to complete the project. They started collaging the background today. Their magazine choices must fit into a complementary color scheme. (Blue/Orange, Yellow/Purple, Red/Green)
A similar project from a previous year can be found HERE.
Check back for updates soon! :)
