Both 4th Grade classes created unique Nutcracker designs to be displayed at Integra First Credit Union in Powers! Click on the images below to see them hard at work. Click on the images below to enlarge the final results that are now on display at the credit union! Artwork was displayed by the high
school Visual Arts class (shown above). Click on each image below to enlarge. The 5th grade class recently completed this fabulous dragon eyes! Students used oil pastels and their knowledge of analogous colors to add color to the tricky folded design. The results are great, and I'm glad I tried a new lesson with them! Check out the final results in the images to follow.
Mrs. Nuttall's 3rd grade class is ALMOST done
with their warm/cool colored pumpkins! Our steps for this project were:
Next time, final touches will be added, and the tissue paper will be removed to show the "tie-dye" style effect underneath. So far, they are beautiful works of art! Click on the images below to enlarge. Check out the completed pumpkins by the Early Kindergarten class below. Click on the images to enlarge. Students created this pumpkin by mixing red and yellow paint to make orange! Then, the face was collaged with construction paper to practice using glue sticks and scissors. Finally, the background was created using watercolor paint and kwik stix!
Mr. LaBonte's class finished the statement
"Jets should be ____________" using our new art supply, Kwik Stix! Students first brainstormed with their table groups before choosing their ONE WORD for this one day project! The results will soon decorate the halls as a visual reminder for all students. Click on the images below to enlarge. Both of our Kindergarten classes focused on learning all types of LINES used in art for the first couple of art classes! Click the images below to enlarge. After practicing types of lines in sketchbooks, students used KWIK STIX to draw BIG, THICK lines! During our second class, students reviewed the lines and squeezed LITTLE, SKINNY lines in between with crayola markers. Once students were experts on lines we were able to talk about 3-D art and create our first SCULPTURE with LINES! (Shout out to master art teacher Cassie Stephens for this wonderful lesson!) Click to enlarge. Lines were the focus for both Mrs. Walters' EK class, as well as Mrs. Meiner's Kindergarten group.
It's already time for school! I don't know about anyone else... but my summer flew by per usual. The elementary room is ready to go and I'm anxious to see all of my students and meet our new faces. Below is a quick picture of what my room looked like when I walked in for the first time this summer. The art room stays in decent shape because it is used for Summer School. Here is a peek at what it looks like now, the weekend before school starts! This classroom has changed a lot since I started in 2012 (check out this post for a throwback), and I love it. See everyone soon!
