1st Grade students started a Landscape drawing this week using simple pencil. I did a step-by-step drawing for the first day. Next week, we'll finish up the base with pencil, and then move on to one of my favorite medias - Oil Pastel!
Young 4s are going to be trying something new today - Art Centers! I am going to try having 3 different mini-projects or activities in rotations of 5-7 minutes. I believe that this movement will help manage the attention span of the ever-anxious 3 and 4 year olds. I look forward to seeing how this goes for them. I have used this concept with Kindergarten in the past, and it was very successful. This week the three areas will be basic, so we can focus on the concept of the Centers.
1. Modeling Clay
2. Mini Class Mural - free draw using markers
3. Oil Pastel - added to watercolor paintings created last week
Newsletters will finally be going home this week! I apologize for the delay on January's issue, but it will be sent home with February's addition for your reference. It has been a very hectic trimester for me, and sometimes things just have to get pushed to the side a bit. More updates will come soon. :) Keep checking back with the blog!
Third graders had their last day to finish up their abstract landscapes! If they were done, they were able to use one of their favorite things - modeling clay! Check out some of the results :)
30th post to the Elementary page! Whoohoo! Here are some final examples of the 3rd grade abstract landscapes :) I love them! Also featured are some students' take on a modeling clay version of me. The 3rd graders keep me entertained, we have a good time on Wednesday afternoons.
