The lovely Kindergarten classes are creating this adorable little Reindeer this week. This drawing was completed doing a "Draw with Me" technique that I often use with lower elementary. We practice the drawing twice, step-by-step as I lead them through how to complete it. Then we draw the "real deal" at a larger scale. The results are quite precious, and completed in ONE class period.
I love our new 50 minute sessions!
The lovely 3rd grade artists created this adorable Birch Tree painting. They started by created a sky full of "cool colors" - green, blue and purple. The sky was done with oil pastel and watercolor paint. After that they learned a scraping technique with black paint for the trees. Once the trees were dry, cut, and attached to their background, shadows were added. Shadows were done with watercolor paint. The result - a beautiful winter scene.

6th graders completed these mixed media projects based on Salvador Dali. Dali was famous for artwork in the style of surrealism. His work mimicked a dreamlike state. The projects were inspired by the exaggerated legs pictured in the Dali paintings here. Students could draw an elephant, tiger, or any animal that their mind could imagine. This is a mixed media project because oil pastel, tempera paint, and a collage technique were used.
