Art 77th graders have been busy in the art room with a variety of projects over the last few weeks! Pictured below is the most recent project "Inchies" Students worked in small groups to design a collaborative project consisting of mini-art works that create a final product with a cohesive theme. Prior to the "Inchie" group project, students completed an Art History unit focused on the following artists: Vincent Van Gogh, Andy Warhol, Leonardo Da Vinci, Pablo Picasso, Wassily Kandinsky, Edvard Munch, and Claude Monet. In small groups, students completed Grid Enlargement paintings and informative posters of six famous artworks/artists. Final results from this can be seen on this previous post. On December 1st, the 7th graders helped create holiday spirit in the art room through their 3D paper snowflake challenge! Art 88th Graders recently completed one of my favorite projects - World Landmark Magazine Mosaics! The results are fantastic! (Click on the images above to enlarge) Students in Art 8 are now working on a Logo Design Challenge (see document below).

Students in my Art 7 class worked in small groups of 4 to re-create the famous art pictured below! Small groups were required to complete an informational poster to go along with their grid enlargement.
Art 77th graders recently completed the 1-point perspective rooms project that I do every year and continue to love seeing the results. Click on the images to enlarge. Art 88th graders are completing projects based on the Principles of Art. This first group of projects is from the Principle Proportion. Students created projects inspired by Salvador Dali and exaggerated proportion or surrealism. Click on student images to enlarge. The next 8th grade projects were based on the Principle Unity & Variety, along with the "Tree of Life" by Gustav Klimt (originals pictured directly below).
Thank you to the 28 entries into the Pumpkin Carving/Painting/Decorating contest for this year! Pictured below are the winners for this year! Congrats! Overall Winner |

Here is what my 7th and 8th grade students were up to this week!
7th Grade finished up their Typography Self-Portraits (seen below, click to enlarge) using an analogous color scheme for the foreground, and the opposite analogous scheme for the background, which included lyrics of their choice. This is a project I do every year with 7th graders, and I love the result time and time again.
Art 8 finished up a Tessellation project inspired by MC Escher to enforce the Principle of Art: Pattern! The designs were created by making a stencil and repeating it, finalizing with sharpie, and creating a color pattern with watercolor paint. |
More details on the week ahead HERE.
haven't missed a step when you complete a project.
- Put your name of the front of your art with black sharpie
- Attach rubric to the back of the project using a “tape donut”
- Fill out the entire rubric accurately
- Add photo of the project to your digital portfolio
- Write an artist statement and add it to your digital portfolio
