Art 8 completed the collaborative project below. Students practiced watercolor techniques like "flat wash" and "dry brush" for example in different hexagon cut outs. The completed hexagons were then added to this bulletin board to create the overall piece as a small class. Up next, students will create their own version of this large scale bulletin board, but with small hexagons and oil pastel techniques.

6th grade artists continued their Mixed Media project by learning some watercolor painting techniques! We watched a short YouTube clip and painted along step-by-step as a group. Students practiced the following techniques: flat wash, gradated wash, wet on wet, dry brush, two color wash and a layering technique. Watercolor paint will be added to the side portions of their final project.
