8th graders are starting to work on a self-portrait project. The first step was to enlarge their image (a photo taken in class), and later to finalize it with sharpie. There will be many more steps to this process. Check back for updates!
Classes have begun for the 2nd Trimester of our school year. 7th and 8th grade students started off with learning the basics. 7th grade brushed up on the Elements of Art, and 8th grade the Principles of Art.
8th grade students created an abstract project to show all of the principles working together. Results can be seen in the slideshow below. They also had a fun review day, including some competitive pictionary as a preparation for a short quiz on Monday.
7th grade students are completing a fun group project - Christmas Door Decorating. Some lovely teachers have volunteered their doors to be adorned with Holiday cheer that also happens to show all of the Elements of Art working together. Once complete, the doors will be judged a winner. Students have been having a lot of fun with the project, and I am very excited to see the results. They will have a short quiz on the Elements this week, and start their next project once the doors are up!
Up next for both classes are different takes on a Self-Portrait that reinforce the vocabulary learned in week one! Also, students start to blog this week :)
