7th Grade students completed these lovely Typography Self-Portraits. We first practiced facial proportions, and sketching the human face. After that, their final draft was drawn, and covered in sharpie. Next, a song was chosen, and lyrics to that song became the background of the project. The final step was to watercolor paint the Self-Portrait. Students had a to make a choice between warm and cool colors for the subject/background. I love the final results!

My Art 8 class completed this lovely Warm/Cool Tree project. Warm colors (red, orange and yellow) were divided from Cool colors (blue, green, and purple) with a circle that created an abstract tree. The grid was used to showcase various hues used. The tree itself was filled with neutral colors. We practiced drawing trees and vowed to longer draw "kid-like" versions of trees that were used in elementary school. Enjoy!
Up next for Art 8
is a group camouflage painted inspired by
artist Guido Daniele.
I'm so excited to have Junior High students back! This trimester I have 27 Art 8 students during my 4th hour. Their first project was this mini Zentangle Name Design to get back into the swing of things. Zentangles are organized doodles, generally with Sharpie markers. They did a great job!
Up next, we reviewed the color wheel, and are now putting it to use creating a Warm/Cool Tree drawing.
Check back for more updates soon!
