North Central Area Schools held their annual National Honor Society Induction Banquet on Sunday, October 15th at St. John Neumann Parish Hall in Spalding. Students honored include, top from left, Juniors Marissa, Jadie, Amber, Eric, Brady, Ellie, Dalton, Chloe and Sophomore Bree. They joined current members, bottom from left, Adviser Miss Westphal, Secretary Hope, President Hunter, Parliamentarian/Historian Nicole, Treasurer Ethan and Vice President Delaney. In order to be selected as a member of the North Central Chapter of NHS, students need to portray the four pillars of NHS: Character, Scholarship, Leadership and Service. Juniors and Seniors need to maintain a 3.3 GPA, while early admission sophomores require a 3.5 GPA. All students who are eligible solely based on GPA are given an application packet. After the packets are turned in, a faculty council of five teachers meets to vote on students for membership and schedule interviews for candidates as well. Seventeen students applied for the honor, with 9 students chosen for membership this year. The images below show which current NHS officer (blue stoles) will serve as the mentor for new members (white stoles) and thus helped to induct them at the ceremony. Inductees were surprised with the gift of chapter t-shirts to be worn at future National Honor Society events like the Hermansville Hustle in the spring.
