Hi, I'm Emily Westphal :)
I grew up in Gaylord, Michigan and graduated from Gaylord High School. I kept busy with Varsity Volleyball, National Honor Society, and Symphony/Marching Band.
I earned my Bachelor's Degree from Northern Michigan University in 2010 after Student Teaching at Houghton Elementary! I was an Art & Design Education major, with a concentration in Photography. I also completed the Superior Edge (400 volunteer hours), loved playing intramural sports, and worked as a Community Adviser and Front Desk Receptionist through Housing and Residence Life.
I worked as a camp counselor for over 6 summers at an amazing place called Coppercreek Camp in Northern California.
I graduated in May 2019 from Northern Michigan University with a Masters of Arts in Education (Learning Disabilities). I am very excited to be all done!
This is my 9th year teaching at North Central and my 6th year as the adviser for National Honor Society. Last year I also added advising Healthy Youth Coalition to my list of things to keep me busy.
Things I love - being "Auntie Em" to my two nieces and two nephews, playing women's league volleyball, attending live concerts/plays, trivia nights, traveling as much as possible (33 states down!), and my amazing students.
