Community Project Day will take place on the morning of Friday, May 17th this year for 6th-12th grade students. This event is organized by North Central’s chapter of National Honor Society. NHS is in need of locations for students to volunteer that morning. (If you or your business participated last year, you should have received a letter with more information, or will in the near future)
Are you in need of a little help to get a spring project completed? (raking, cleaning, painting, etc.) Locations that could use a larger group of students would be very helpful in the planning process. Please contact NHS Adviser Miss Westphal for more information – [email protected]. Last semester, freshmen students in both Intro to Art classes participated in a Community Project Day t-shirt design contest. The top 3 finalists' designs can be seen below. Click to enlarge the images. Shout out to freshmen artist Destiny for winning the Intro to Art T-Shirt Design Contest! Her initial concept won the vote of NHS members. After her design was selected, NHS historian Ellie spruced up the shirt based on suggestions of the rest of the NHS chapter. Moonlight Graphics created the proof showing the shirt in all of the 7 colors that will be printed this year (one color per class). T-shirt design after final adjustments. Community Project Day will take place on Friday, May 17th this year. Shirt orders will be sent home at the end of April/beginning of May. Check out previous posts about CPD here. CPD shirt designs from the past can be seen below. Check back for updates soon! :)

Legion Post 244 Lions Club Methodist Church Normenco Sportsmen's Club Pinecrest Medical Care Facility Spalding Cemetery Veterans Park Spalding Township Hall Various Community Member's Homes Click on the images below to enlarge. Shout out to all of the National Honor Society members for making today run smoothly. I could not have prepared everything without their efforts. A special thank you to our Seniors - Hope, Hunter and Nicole for all of their hardwork during their time with our Chapter! You will be missed and we wish you the best of luck! Throwback to the end of LAST YEAR when this was our entire CHAPTER prior to our induction in the Fall. Click on the images below to enlarge - Our Seniors starting (and ending!) as Officers. When our Seniors graduate at the end of the month, our Chapter will get a little smaller in size, but I have high hopes for the silly crew seen below! (it was just a little windy today...)
Community Project Day is on Friday, May 18th this year (also the Seniors last day!). T-Shirt forms were handed out on May 3rd and are due on Tuesday, May 8th by 3:15pm. Students can turn in forms to their 1st hour teacher or Miss Westphal directly. Late forms or forms without money will not be accepted. T-Shirts will be available for pick-up on the morning of CPD in the Art Room. Extra order forms are available in the office or can be downloaded below. Shout out to NHS member Marissa for designing the t-shirt, and to Moonlight Graphics for finalizing the design and printing them! If you, or someone you know would like to have students come to your home or business to volunteer on CPD please contact NHS President Hunter Riley ([email protected]). Any other CPD questions can be directed to NHS Adviser Miss Westphal ([email protected])
Our Chapter of the National Honor Society recently completed our largest fundraiser for the year - the Hermansville Hustle 5k (In Memory of Sheila Sanville). Check out the official race website for details. |
