North Central Area Schools held their annual National Honor Society Induction Banquet on Sunday, October 15th at St. John Neumann Parish Hall in Spalding. Students honored include, top from left, Juniors Marissa, Jadie, Amber, Eric, Brady, Ellie, Dalton, Chloe and Sophomore Bree. They joined current members, bottom from left, Adviser Miss Westphal, Secretary Hope, President Hunter, Parliamentarian/Historian Nicole, Treasurer Ethan and Vice President Delaney. In order to be selected as a member of the North Central Chapter of NHS, students need to portray the four pillars of NHS: Character, Scholarship, Leadership and Service. Juniors and Seniors need to maintain a 3.3 GPA, while early admission sophomores require a 3.5 GPA. All students who are eligible solely based on GPA are given an application packet. After the packets are turned in, a faculty council of five teachers meets to vote on students for membership and schedule interviews for candidates as well. Seventeen students applied for the honor, with 9 students chosen for membership this year. The images below show which current NHS officer (blue stoles) will serve as the mentor for new members (white stoles) and thus helped to induct them at the ceremony. Inductees were surprised with the gift of chapter t-shirts to be worn at future National Honor Society events like the Hermansville Hustle in the spring.
Check out the Induction article posted in the Daily Press here. Save the date - October 15th @ 12pm!Congratulations to the following 9 students for being our new candidates for Fall 2017!
They will officially be inducted on Sunday, October 15th into our Chapter! 17 National Honor Society applicants were informed via letter on Friday if they have been chosen to move forward in the process of becoming a new member. If they received a positive letter, they will have an interview either Tuesday or Wednesday of next week with the faculty council of 5 teachers and myself. By the end of next week, students will know if they will be joining NHS at our annual induction banquet in October. If students did not receive an interview this year, the faculty council encourages them to work hard through the 2017-2018 school year to gain experiences to help them stand out in the application process next year.
While updating this website, I decided that rather than making NHS posts on the "High School" page, it was time we had our own page for National Honor Society! We are taking the summer off from organized activities for the most part, but our current members will be volunteering on their own and building up their hours for the 2017-2018 school year. Check back for updates! Here are some of our posts from the past below.
