Fat Tuesday (or Mardi Gras) is March 5th this year!
Pre-orders will be available starting Monday, February 25th for National Honor Society's annual Paczki Sale. Forms will be sent home with every student at the elementary on Monday.
6th-8th Grade students will also be given a pre-order form. Forms will be available for high school students to pick up in the office or outside of the art room for the week.
Paczki will be sold during both JH and HS lunch on Tuesday the 5th. A pre-order is not required for these students, but will guarantee your order. Available paczki will be divided between JH and HS lunch but is first come, first serve without pre-orders.
The pre-order form can be downloaded below.
Community Project Day will take place on the morning of Friday, May 17th this year for 6th-12th grade students. This event is organized by North Central’s chapter of National Honor Society. NHS is in need of locations for students to volunteer that morning. (If you or your business participated last year, you should have received a letter with more information, or will in the near future)
Are you in need of a little help to get a spring project completed? (raking, cleaning, painting, etc.) Locations that could use a larger group of students would be very helpful in the planning process.
Please contact NHS Adviser Miss Westphal
for more information – email@example.com.
Last semester, freshmen students in both Intro to Art classes participated in a Community Project Day t-shirt design contest. The top 3 finalists' designs can be seen below. Click to enlarge the images.
Shout out to freshmen artist Destiny for winning the Intro to Art T-Shirt Design Contest! Her initial concept won the vote of NHS members. After her design was selected, NHS historian Ellie spruced up the shirt based on suggestions of the rest of the NHS chapter. Moonlight Graphics created the proof showing the shirt in all of the 7 colors that will be printed this year (one color per class).

Community Project Day will take place on Friday, May 17th this year.
Shirt orders will be sent home at the end of April/beginning of May.

Our chapter has been busy in these winter months! Prior to the New Year, the last day before break was a busy one for NHS members. We organized and judged an Ugly Sweater Contest in the 6th-12th grade building for our annual "Super Happy Fun Day" and had great participation in all grades!
The 6 winners in the junior/high
school building can be seen below.
Most Hideous - Lane G.
Most Festive - Evan H.
Most Beautifully Tacky - Breanna S.
Most Likely Belonging to Your Grandma - Caylin J.
Still Pretty Ugly - Samantha B.
Best Ugliest Christmas Sweater - Dakota S.
Instead of spending their afternoon enjoying activities with their peers at the high school, NHS members donated their time to visit the elementary instead. During the afternoon of the Friday prior to break, NHS hosted an Upper Elementary Movie Day for 3rd-5th graders. Students enjoyed fresh popcorn (thank you Sports Boosters for letting us use the concession area) while watching The Santa Clause.
The Ugly Sweater contest was also offered to 3rd-5th grade students at the Elementary building in Hermansville. The winners can be seen below -
Most Hideous - Drayden P.
Most Festive - Griffin G.
Most Beautifully Tacky - Lauren F.
Most Likely Belonging to Your Grandma - McKenzie W.

The current task for NHS members is seeking sponsors for our annual Hermansville Hustle 5k in Memory of Sheila Sanville. More info on this event can be found HERE at our official race website. Our facebook event can be found HERE as well.
If you or your business is interested in being a 2019 sponsor, check out this page or contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Our sponsorship form can be found at the end of this post.
Thank you to the following businesses for making a donation to our Chapter of NHS! North Central High School held the annual National Honor Society Induction on Sunday, October 21st at St. John Neumann Parish Hall in Spalding. New inductees included seniors Griffin Johnson & Tayler Poupore, juniors Leo Gorzinski & Jasmine Walters, and early admission sophomores Ava Eichhorn, Jaiden Fleetwood, Autumn Gundrum & Chloe Webber.
In order to be selected as a member of the North Central Chapter of NHS, students need to portray the four pillars of NHS: Character, Scholarship, Leadership and Service. Juniors and seniors need to maintain a 3.3 GPA, while early admission sophomores require a 3.5 GPA. NHS members are also required to complete a minimum of 20 service hours per school year.
Returning members have been working on planning this
banquet since the school started. They all did a wonderful job!
The ceremony included an elaboration of the four pillars of NHS by the officers, individual introduction of new members by the current chapter, signing of the registry, the NHS pledge, and a luncheon. Special thank you to the parents for their contributions to the luncheon!
Photos from the ceremony can be viewed in the slideshow below.
New inductees were surprised with a congratulatory gift bag, which included the chapter t-shirts pictured below. These shirts are worn to promote our chapter in the community and while volunteering or facilitating our annual events.
The images below feature the current NHS member with the new
inductee they introduced during our ceremony. Click to enlarge.
All of my photos from the banquet can be found in this google folder.
The Daily Press feature on our banquet can be viewed HERE.
Thank you to all faculty council, school board members and families for attending our banquet. Up next for our chapter is planning our other annual events (hermansville hustle 5k, community project day, etc) and completing community service! Check back for updates!
New chapter t-shirts were worn to school the Monday after the banquet! Thanks again to Moonlight Graphics for printing shirts for all of our annual events!
National Honor Society sponsored a PowderPuff Volleyball tournament as part of Homecoming 2018. Admission for attending the tournament on Friday, October 12th was $1 or 1 canned food item per person. NHS members Brady, Amber, Ethan and Chloe (pictured below) dropped off our canned food collection on Thursday, October 18th to the Senior Center's food pantry in Hermansville. Read the Daily Press article HERE.
NHS members had the chance to earn some service hours by showing their creativity, school spirit, and humor by dressing up for SPIRIT WEEK!
Color Day was also the POWDER PUFF VOLLEYBALL tournament which includes all students 6th grade through Seniors.
The 8th grade won the Junior High Championship this year!
The Seniors were the overall high school champions.
