I hosted an after school class for three weeks in December. Students met for 1 hour on Tuesdays. The class was open to 1st-3rd grade students. The lesson was inspired by artist Robin Mead who is known for her vibrant colors, mandalas, landscapes and floral designs. Click on the images below to enlarge. The final goal for this project is a triptych landscape series.
Here are some snapshots from my 3-week after school art class held at Carney-Nadeau and North Central. This class was offered to 3rd-5th grade students. We met for 1 hour after school, 1 day a week for 3 weeks. Students created mandalas using a wide variety of media - oil pastels, liquid watercolors, paint pens, markers, construction paper crayons, sharpies, etc. Click on the images below to enlarge.
Another Art Camp is in the books! I look forward to this week each year as it is a chance to create some beautiful artwork with a small group of elementary students in a longer time frame than a standard class.
My small group met from 9am-Noon Tuesday through Thursday, giving us 12 whole hours to devote to art!
This class was open to incoming 3rd-6th graders in North Menominee County and surrounding areas.
During our Day Camp, students were able to complete the following projects:
1. Kaleidoscope Oil Pastel/Watercolor Resists
2. Tie Dye "Art Camp" T-Shirts
3. Wooden Heart Magnets decorated with Neon Oil Pastel
4. Independent projects created with "Art Sticks"
5. Name Posters
6. Glass Mosaic Frames
If students finished early through the week, they also were able to create some free choice art.
Students each created a letter or number to use for our group photos. For the pictures below,
I asked them to choose their favorite project from the week to take their photo with!

It truly was an enjoyable week, and I can't wait until next year!

I had a great week with my little crew of 4-7 year olds in our mini version of Art Camp. Details of the camp be read in my previous post here. Over 3 short days, students completed 3 projects from all over the world -
Salt Watercolor Koi Fish (Japan)
Aboriginal Dot Paintings (Australia)
Construction Paper Molas (Panama)
Check out some pictures from our time together - I can't wait until next summer!
After a trip downstate to spend time with family, I'll be back in July for our "Littles Art Camp"

Our Sharpie Zentangle Landscapes are done, and many of our SnapChat Portraits are done as well! Tomorrow we will add finishing touches and create our Sidewalk Chalk murals for everyone to enjoy! Fingers crossed for good weather! Art Show starts at 11:45am.
Day 2 was a success!
We completed any remaining Stained Glass projects, continued to work on our Snapchat Portraits, and started out Sharpied Zentangle Landscapes (example to the left). I also had early finishers help me create some signs for our upcoming art show. Tomorrow we will finish up both of those projects and get ready for our final project - Sidewalk Chalk Murals!
Thursday is Mini-Art Show day
starting at 11:45am in the Cafeteria!
