This week, 14 local students (2nd - 6th grade) joined me for our annual ART CAMP from 9am-Noon. This week is something I always look forward to. This year, projects were completed under an OUT OF THIS WORLD theme. Students created watercolor spiral paintings, marbled painted planets, Lego printed robots, and acrylic pour paintings (galaxies). On the last day, we traditionally have a mini art show for friends and family to view all of the creations from the week. This year, I even set up a few black lights to see the art in a different way through a black light gallery. Thank you to all of artists for a great week! All of my photos from the week can be viewed in the slideshow below.

I hosted an after school class for three weeks in December. Students met for 1 hour on Tuesdays. The class was open to 1st-3rd grade students. The lesson was inspired by artist Robin Mead who is known for her vibrant colors, mandalas, landscapes and floral designs. Click on the images below to enlarge. The final goal for this project is a triptych landscape series.
Here are some snapshots from my 3-week after school art class held at Carney-Nadeau and North Central. This class was offered to 3rd-5th grade students. We met for 1 hour after school, 1 day a week for 3 weeks. Students created mandalas using a wide variety of media - oil pastels, liquid watercolors, paint pens, markers, construction paper crayons, sharpies, etc. Click on the images below to enlarge.
Another Art Camp is in the books! I look forward to this week each year as it is a chance to create some beautiful artwork with a small group of elementary students in a longer time frame than a standard class. My small group met from 9am-Noon Tuesday through Thursday, giving us 12 whole hours to devote to art! This class was open to incoming 3rd-6th graders in North Menominee County and surrounding areas. During our Day Camp, students were able to complete the following projects: 1. Kaleidoscope Oil Pastel/Watercolor Resists 2. Tie Dye "Art Camp" T-Shirts 3. Wooden Heart Magnets decorated with Neon Oil Pastel 4. Independent projects created with "Art Sticks" 5. Name Posters 6. Glass Mosaic Frames If students finished early through the week, they also were able to create some free choice art. Students each created a letter or number to use for our group photos. For the pictures below, I asked them to choose their favorite project from the week to take their photo with! Click on the images below to enlarge. It truly was an enjoyable week, and I can't wait until next year! Click on the images from our week below to enlarge. Click below to see art classes that have been offered in the past through NMCCS.
