All elementary students, Kindergarten through 5th grade, are currently creating self-portraits. This week, students will be finishing them up to be displayed! First up was Mrs. Ekberg's 1st Grade class. Check out the first few to complete the project below. I LOVE the results and cannot wait to display an entire hallway full of student self-portraits.

5th Grade worked on their portraits, but still need ONE more day to catch up! Progress can be seen by enlarging the images below.
I can't believe that it's already time for students to arrive next week!
I am very excited to see familiar faces, and meet new students as well.
The first week of class in the elementary will be spent learning the ropes of the art room, completing seating charts, learning our new behavior management system (I'm very excited to show them this!), and starting our first project.
I am beginning the year with a collaborative (or school-wide) project to get an idea of everyone's skill level.
We will be completing Monochromatic Self-Portraits.
I have seen this lesson completed by fellow art colleagues and have always wanted to try it.
I can't wait to post the results.
Each class will be assigned a color, and I will display the finished work in RAINBOW order.
Great reminder for the color wheel, and a nice, bright start to the school year!
5th grade wire portraits are finally on display! I LOVE the results :) Also featured in this slideshow are watercolor paintings created during the after school art classes. They are also pretty fantastic!
